The Dinner Crew

Many of you know that I refer to 5:00 pm as the start of the "witching hour," here in our household. The girls always seem to get a little fussy, they are hungry, they are tired, they get whiney, and I sometimes (usually) have to take a deep breath (or two), to get through it!! With Dave's crazy schedule, he is almost never home during dinner time, and usually arrives just as we are winding down and getting ready for bed.

One of my saving graces has been my great friend Shannon. She lives just down the street and has a little girl Addyson. Shannon's husband is Coast Guard and has a much worse schedule than Dave. He typically is home for 30 days, and then on the boat for 60-90 days at a time. Needless to say, Shannon and Addyson enjoy the time when Adam is home, but when he is not, they become "adopted Donahue's." Most nights of the week Shannon and Addy come over, eat dinner, and play. The girls love playing together and it sure makes the "witching hour," much easier to handle. We are so blessed to have such great friends here!

Yay for great friends when our husbands are nowhere to be found!
